my work is really giving me quite a lot of material these days. here's another pet peeve for you.
people who assume things. not the kind of assumptions that everyone does, the annoying stupid ones that are asking for an eye roll. for example: my coworker leaves to run an errand. Within 30 seconds a different coworker returns to work, having just passed by the lady leaving. He walks in and says to me..
'so, (blank) is gone for the day then?'
to which i respond (already completely annoyed) 'ahh, no... she's just running to rio rancho real quick.'
he says 'oh, hahah real quick?! so she'll be back then?'
to which I respond 'dude, it's only 1 o'clock. it's not like rio rancho is that far away!'
annoying!! when this woman is away from her desk (i.e. in the bathroom), he'll come up see her empty chair and walk over to me and say 'so (blank) is gone for the day, then?' UM I don't know! Is her computer on? Is her purse sitting there at her desk? Have you tried to page her? what the hell!!? Why act like there is such finality to a situation like that. When someone leaves work (around lunch time) most of the time they're returning. In fact, this particular guy goes to and from work about 50 times a day. I wonder what makes people like that. And I wonder what it must be like to live with someone like that. Where every action has a predetermined outcome...thought of by him. ridiculous and totally annoying!
