I still hate soccer moms

so, i grew up hating kids who play soccer and the pretentious parents who usher their minivans of kids to and fro. This could be because my parents were poor and/or anti social hippies who couldn't pull their shit together long enough to put me into an organized extra curricular activity, but regardless I grew up rolling my eyes at the mentioned of 'ooh, off to soccer practice' or 'after soccer practice we all went for...fill in the blank'. As an adult I have met many a cool ex soccer player and have friends who have their children enrolled in it. I can even appreciate the extreme athletic demand and, as a parent, the need to get the kids burning off their steam somehow. Buuuut I can't help my feelings of annoyance when my girlfriend not only signs both her kids up for the season but also her husband to coach. Or the lady at work who has an incredibly negative personality and apparently does nothing but shop online all day (as the packages roll in by the pair), who's got a pair of blond headed twin 4 year olds and, OOps has to leave a half hour early because... that's right, her kids have soccer practice! Ugh, spare me. I think there are certain kinds of youth activities that make adults feel like they've "made" it as upper middle class, and soccer is one of those. It's like becoming a vegan or something...like you're automatically better than everyone else if you've joined the club. All I know, is if I have to endure the next couple of girl's nights full of soccer sob stories I may die!
