killing time

just sitting at work killing time. i submitted my time for this pay period and shorted myself an hour. i thought i'd leave early then changed my mind. so that means i get to finish out my first week back from vacation with a little online bs'ery.
our trip was awesome. i had a great visit with my mom. the house looks and feels lived in and homey. the neighbors are friendly and everyone is inviting. julia played with the neighbor kids like she'd known them forever. nyc was fun too. lots and lots of walking...which was kind of exhausting after a while. but i enjoyed hanging with my sister-in-law and my bro and his girlfriend. they showed us around and i definitely visited more new places in the city than i ever explored before. so it was cool and interesting...and exhausting. did i mention exhausting? then we went up to connecticut to visit my dad's family. really fun to introduce my husband and connect with relatives i haven't seen in nearly 9 years. my grandmother is really cute and in much better shape than the picture my dad paints of her. she is having trouble seeing but moves easily around on her own, dresses herself and helps with clearing the table. her hearing is fantastic and so is her sense of humor. i hope she enjoyed our visit.
hopefully it won't be a thousand years before we visit them all again. maybe traveling in the off season would be more affordable. tim and julia are wonderful traveling companions. they're funny and upbeat, pretty much constantly.
i can't think of one crappy thing that happened. i mean some of our commuting plans were delayed from here to there by a couple of hours but i hardly consider that a crappy moment of the trip. we were all together and hanging out the whole time and ready for any adventure. it was really a good time.
well, there's about 4 minutes until 5 so i guess i've officially made it through my first week back. TGIF
